Pop into Popcorn with a Program

By ALEX JIMENEZPima Post Pima Community College is hosting the next Popcorn with a Program virtual event between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17. PWAP is an event designed to connect students with advisors, faculty and even students from around the campus. Thoughts about Week 1 of The Loft Film Fest

By JAVIER DOSAMANTES The Loft Film Fest is back for its 11th annual installment after a one-year hiatus, and The Loft's patrons are not taking it for granted. Some film festivals and cultural events blur the lines between celebrating the arts and blatant networking, but The Loft Film Fest has been a pure celebration of film. People attending all or most films stop to have pre- and post-movie impromptu critiques among themselves, take notes during movies and cheer before every showing. The staff — gracious and knowledgeable — have amicable conversations with regulars, and Jeff Yanc (program director), is great at presenting movies with show host swagger. By ALEX JIMENEZ Pima Post Pima Community College Men’s Soccer team (15-2) has been invited as the No. 2 seed to the NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer National Championship, taking place Nov. 15 through Nov. 20. Pima lost the regional tournament to Phoenix College in penalty kicks to secure a bid to the national tournament. However, it received one of four at-large bids thanks to its strong performances this season and consistently being in the nation’s top 10. Not because I enjoyed the movie, but because I wanted to figure out a way to talk about it. Anderson is an all-time great filmmaker. His résumé is full of cinematic gems like "The Royal Tenenbaums," "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel," among many others. COVID vaccinations available at Pima

By JOSHUA SHAVERPima Post Arizona Public Interest Research Group Education Fund has launched a campaign urging more students at Pima Community College to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Just under 50 percent of people ages 18-24 are fully vaccinated nationally, the lowest among age groups over 18, according to the CDC. That’s concerning, given the rapid spread of the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus. “We encourage people to speak to their friends and families, and that’s a way to overcome vaccination anxiety,” said Sydney Kale, Southwest campus organizer with PIRG. The impressive lineup of national and international movies was collected from the most important festivals in the cinematic realm, including Cannes Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.
