Visit free Pima art exhibit “American Renaissance”

Queen Mary by Alanna Airitam By ALEX JIMENEZPima Post Pima Community College is hosting the American Renaissance art exhibit at the Louis Carlos Bernal Art Exhibit on PCC’s West Campus until Dec. 8. Admission to the exhibit is free and displays work from two artists: Alanna Airitam and Wayne Martin Belger. Alanna Airitam is a San Diego-based portrait photographer. Pima Men’s Soccer aims to remain undefeated

By ALEX JIMENEZPima Post Pima Community College men’s soccer team will play in a big conference game and the last regular season game of the year against Arizona Western at Aztec Soccer Field at 7 p.m. Saturday. Both teams are at the top of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference with a record of 14-0, 8-0 ACCAC for No. 1 Pima College and 16-0, 8-0 ACCAC for No. 6 Arizona Western. A win for either team would secure the top spot in ACCAC. The Aztecs will enjoy a weeklong break between games, having gone into overtime in three of its last four games. Check out free Pima art exhibit ‘Egress’

By Alex Jimenez Pima Community College will host Egress - an art exhibit with work from three London-based artists. Admission to the exhibit is free and is being held at the Louis Carlos Bernal Art Exhibit on PCC’s West Campus through Oct. 8. The art displayed is all made on paper and was completed during the COVID lockdown by Alice Browne, Anthony Banks and George Little. All three of the artists attended the Royal College of Art in London. “Each artist explores abstracted themes about London from ‘Leftovers’ left on tables to the surrounding English environments to imagined ideas about San Sebastian to Orbits,” said gallery director David Andres in the exhibit introduction. “‘Egress’ is but a snapshot of what was produced.” George Little’s art uses restaura...

Pima College set to close Community Campus

By AMARIS ENCINASPima Post The six Pima Community College campuses in Tucson will soon be down to five. PCC came to the conclusion that it would be best to close Community Campus, 401 N. Bonita Ave. Community Campus currently offers Pima Online, Workforce Development, Adult Education for College and Career, Workforce Development and PCC-TV. Community Campus was established in 1975 to provide educational services in alternative time formats and frames in non-traditional forms to give access to people that live and work in the community, said David Dore, Northwest, Downtown and Community campus president, in a recent email. Bernal Gallery illustrates life on and beyond the border

BY PARKER BROCK The Pima Community College Bernal Gallery is presenting SEPARADOS POR FRONTERA - SEPARATED BY BORDERS, an art gallery featuring works from Sonoran artists. The Bernal gallery is located at PCC West Campus and will displaying the exhibit from February fourth through March eighth. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Friday from, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. On display are works from artists Francisco Larios Osuna, Miriam Salado, Carlos Iván Hernández and Nahatan Navarro, all of which have their work tied to the the state of Sonora. “They all have origin from Hermosillo, Mexico, one was born in wiamus, one was born, Carlos was born in Mexico city. ‘Sustained Visions’ features 5 artists

By AMARIS ENCINAS The Bernal Gallery chronicles the lives and works of: Fred Borcherdt, Bailey Doogan, Tom Philabaum, Barbara Rogers and Jim Waid in the new exhibit “Sustained Visions.” All five artists have taught at the college level while holding fast to their concepts and quality of craftsmanship. according to Andres.
