Brewers Brew Up World Series Championship

By: Rene Escobar October the month of pumpkin spice, ghost and ghouls, but more importantly playoff baseball. As Major League Baseball writes its final chapters of the 2018 season there remains one unknown the World Series champions. That remains undetermined for the moment. With the pennant set, 10 teams have an opportunity. Alas only one can claim the trophy. The one team in this year's playoff has never risen a Commissioner's Trophy, and this fall the Milwaukee Brewers will raise their first ever World Series Championship. The Brewers have the mix any championship team needs, a legitimate defense with a bullpen that can pitch the lights out. By JOE GIDDENS Carla Durazo doesn’t want you to be scared of Pima Community College’s bookstore. “I think they're just afraid to come in here because of the prices, but they shouldn't,” said Durazo, who has worked at the West Campus bookstore since 2014 as the assistant bookstore manager. “We have a lot of options for them.” Those options include ebooks; textbook rentals; price matching; makeup; and even makeup. “We try to do all these things where, you know, students can have a savings,” Durazo said. “They don’t bother to look to see what is available in the store and even on our pimashop.com site.” Durazo recently sat down for a question-and-answer session about the West Campus bookstore. By JOE GIDDENS Toxic masculinity is in a number of stories this year, recently with Kavanaugh and his deep affection for beer and debauchery. Locally, you first saw it on Jan. 12 when Martha McSally announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate. “I absolutely refuse to bow down to Sharia law after eight years of fighting. I won my battle for the religious freedom of American servicewoman”; “I’m tired of PC politicians and their BS excuses”; “I’m a fighter pilot and I talk like one like one. The painter has been the curator of the Bernal Gallery for the last 11 years and the instructor of the Gallery Museum Studies class at Pima Community College. Over the course of 27 years, Andres has traveled throughout Mexico, and his love for the country inspires a lot of themes that arise in his exhibitions. “We might be separated by borders, but it doesn’t make any difference,” said Andres when discussing the concept of “Separated by Borders.” “These are incredible artists that are living just south of us and haven’t had the opportunity to show here in Tucson.” ...

By RENE ESCOBAR The Hall of Fame, the pinnacle of the sports world is a testament to the legacies of athletes. Displayed in museums around the country, the stars of the past are immortalized and viewed by fans. None are bigger than the National Football League Hall of Fame. Every summer, the Hall of Fame induction ceremony draws a national audience with its annual game to kick off the preseason. It generates millions of dollars in revenue for the museum and more for the NFL. Lately some hall of famers have requested that some of that revenue be put into a hall of fame salary and an insurance for life fund. Although the members of the hall of fame are in the right for requesting something such as insurance for life, should be considered by the multi-billion-dollar company of the NFL. ...

Bruno repeats as ACCAC champion

BY ANGEL CANEZ The Pima Community College Men’s and Women's track teams competed in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference, Cross Country Championships on Sept. 26 at the Glen Lake golf course in Glendale Arizona. Katherine Bruno led the way once again coming in first place in the 5K race, for the second year in a row at the ACCAC championship. “Katie's back to back conference championship titles are impressive. She shared the lead with the runner up until the 2 mile mark and then pulled away.” Cross country coach Greg Wenneborg, said. Bruno also set the course record along with a personal best time of 18 minutes and 12 seconds. This makes Bruno 3rd top ten finish in as many races. However, there’s another senate that exists under your nose: the Pima Community College Student Senate. The Senate consists of 14 elected Pima students. Their goal is to act as a voice for the people and to maximize Pima students’ learning experiences.
