The Witching Weekly: 10/10

By Ruby Maldonado

Happy October, everyone! My name’s Ruby, and this is The Witching Weekly! Here, I give weekly tarot readings, psychic tips, and share crafts and recipes. I know that everyone does witchcraft and tarot a little bit differently, and this is the way I like to do it. I respect other’s views and preferences when it comes to this, so I ask that you do the same!

For the week of 9/22, I chose to do a Season of Becoming spread. It is perfect for a new season, new school year or even just a fresh start!

I like to start by cleansing my deck, especially when I’m reading for other people. The readings I do can be different every time, whether it’s specific to one person (but I don’t know it), or it can be very broad, with a message that everyone can take from. I usually don’t set an intention either way, because I feel that the cards know best in that case.

I felt that green ink was best for this particular spread, as it represents growth and prosperity.

Now onto the reading!

  1. What chapter is closing?                                         2.  What chapter is opening?

                                                 3. Who am I in this new story?

1: The Knight of Wands, reversed, represents being reckless, impulsive, and having scattered energy. This is the chapter in your life that is closing, allowing you to move on. Allowing you to grow into a better person. This was a rough time, but that chapter is ending.

2: Nine of Swords, reversed, represents the end of anxieties and nightmares. You are beginning your journey toward mental healing and recovery. Everything will be okay, and you will find your balance again.

3: The Hierophant represents embracing your learning, being consistent in your studies and practices. Important things are tradition, wisdom and trust. Reconnect with people, with family, if that’s something important to you. Block out the negative. Focus on you.

Take from this reading what you will! Maybe only one part of it applies to you, or maybe it all does! Either way, take what you learned and try to apply it. Be observant.

I also wanted to include a few first of the month rituals. Each one aids in something different, so you can choose what you feel most connected to if you don’t want to do them all.

My favorite is the floor wash ritual. You start by mixing lemon juice, salt and rosemary with water. Start by mopping backwards through your home to clear out old energy, and to invite new possibilities. As you move, visualize the bad leaving your home, and the good entering. Much of the craft is visualization, and it helps to make your work more potent.

Making a honey jar is a way to set intentions and put forth good vibes into your surroundings. Start by writing your name and intentions for the month on a piece of paper. You can write as much or as little as you want! Then, place it into a jar with honey, cinnamon, and rose petals. Feel free to add any other herbs or plants that you want! This is a very personal spell. After you do that, seal the jar and light a candle on top. It can be any color, depending on what you wrote down. As it burns, visualize what your intentions were!

If your goal for the month is to save money, a money pouch may be useful! Create a small green pouch (sew, crochet, knit, or even just decorate a canvas one), and fill with basil, cinnamon, a coin, green aventurine, and patchouli oil. You can carry it with you in a purse, backpack, or anywhere you wish!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you found something here that you were able to take from! See you next week!
