Aztecs dig in for the long haul

By ARMANDO HARMON   After a tough loss to a juggernaut of a team No. 8 South Mountain, the Aztecs looked to bounce back with a series of non-conference wins.   The Aztecs took a little break from the desert heat and spent a weekend in the city founded by the Germans found in 1904. Like Ron Burgundy of “Anchorman” would say: “The greatest city in the world of San Diago.”   Sept. 28: PCC 3, Grand Canyon University Club 0   The Aztecs earned their 10th win of the season with a good old-fashioned sweep. Pima (10-8) won in straight sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-22.   Freshman Madi Nash had another match with nine kills, 13 digs and two aces. Aztecs devour their veggies

By HANK ROBICHAUD   Pima Community College football team had its home opener on Sept. 29, defeating the No. 4 Scottsdale Artichokes. The Artichokes came into the game with a 4-0 record, while Pima came in 2-1. The Aztecs’ defense played great all night, however, and caused four turnovers. Sophomore Macarius Blount brought in two interceptions, while sophomore Christian Maddoux had one. Leonard Lee had the biggest of them all to change the momentum of the game for the Aztecs. “I try and put in hours of film study a week also what we did was we try to disguise our coverages a lot,” defensive back Lee said. “I ended up dropping to the deep third, saw the seam route coming, and I jumped it.” Pima’s offense couldn’t get it going early in the first half, only scoring the one touch...
