The Witching Weekly: 10/17

By Ruby Maldonado

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to The Witching Weekly! For this week, I wanted to do something calming. School can be a stressful time, and people’s sleep schedules tend to suffer because of it. The recipe for a Deep Sleep Spell Bag should help with that! You can put it under your pillow, or on a nightstand. It’s best to keep it close to you. The fun thing about this particular bag is that you can use what you have, or what you like. Some people don’t like the smell of lavender, so maybe they add more chamomile or blue sage instead!

The way to make our Deep Sleep Bags is to find or make a small pouch, usually a drawstring, and place your intentions into it. This could be meditating or saying it out loud, or even just visualizing what you are trying to achieve.

Once you’ve done this, gather your ingredients while doing the same for them. You can put as much or as little as you want, but if you’re like me and need a recipe, use about one tablespoon of each.

Use howlite, selenite (my favorite!), or clear quartz next. They can be any shape or size, as long as they fit into your bag. Howlite is good for fighting insomnia, selenite helps with calming your mind and tuning to higher frequencies, and clear quartz is considered the “master healer.” It’s good for a lot of things.

You’ll also need amethyst, which encourages deep sleep. This one is more crucial than the howlite, as that one you can switch out as you please, but the amethyst will work best for this spell.

Next are the herbs. Like I said, if you don’t like one or don’t have it, you can switch it for whatever you prefer.

This spell calls for valerian (for deep and sound sleep), chamomile (for calming the body and mind), and lavender (promotes deep relaxation). Use about a tablespoon of each in your bag. You can do more or less, if you prefer.

As you put each item into your bag, say your intention out loud, and visualize it happening. Pay attention to the care you put into your bag, and let distractions fall away. When you’re done, place it under your pillow or on a nightstand. As you fall asleep, visualize each piece working to help you!

Our tarot reading follows the same theme, a Good Night spread. It’s a reflection of your day and a way to down-regulate before sleep, calming stress and anxiety, and maybe get some insight!

Card 1 is a summary of your day, things you should acknowledge, not hold onto.

Card 2 is what you need to let go of from today, things you shouldn’t obsess over or hold onto.

Card 3, our last card, is what you should take with you for tomorrow.

  1. The Queen of Wands:

Confidence, self-motivation, enthusiasm, and determination. You did a good job today, and the cards are acknowledging that. Know that you did well.

  1. Nine of Swords:

Inner fear, bad dreams, anxiety, agony of mind, and doubt. Let go of negativity from your day. Acknowledge your anxiety and doubt, but don’t let it control you, don’t bring it with you. It will not help you sleep to hold onto this.

  1. Five of Cups:

Passion, inner strength, newfound courage, the return of hope. Take with you the courage and strength that you’ve found, despite the fear. Hold onto this, and bring it with you for the next day.

Thank you so much for joining me this week, and I hope you found something to take with you! See you next week!
