The Desert Vista Campus is holding a family-friendly event to showcase the departments and what they have to offer.

Lab assistant Heather Moore-Martin is coordinating the event. She said that there will be free trick-or-treating on campus. Kids will be provided with a bag, and as they enter they will receive free candy in a semi-guided tour of the campus. She said that it’s a fun and safe way to enjoy the fall festivities.

As people roam the campus, they will be introduced to the various departments on campus where they can take part in fun activities put on by the staff. The labs will have slime making, the library will have comic book crafting and the Pima Arts department will be showcasing the art of students from Desert Vista.

In addition, Moore-Martin said there will be a drawing for a scholarship for current students. Students who enter the drawing will be eligible for a partial spring scholarship of $250 if they currently are enrolled in six or more credits.

There also will be general entertainment throughout the event. There will be a mariachi performance at 1 p.m.; folklorico dancers will take the stage at 2 p.m.; and guitar performances will take place from 3 to 4 p.m.

There are plenty of reasons to attend this event. To quote Moore-Martin, “The Desert Vista campus is a gem in the rough.”
